This day is celebrated in the honor of martyrs killed on the occasion of Food movement in 1959. On 31st August, 2019 the martyrs will be remembered in several places throughout Kolkata. At 10 am on same day, the left leaders will garland the martyrs monument at Subodh Mallick Square.
